What is an HVAC system? What is its function ?

HVAC stands for “Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning” in English, which translates into French as “Chauffage, Ventilation et Climatisation”. It is a system that controls the indoor climate of a building, including heating and cooling, as well as ventilation to ensure optimal air quality.

An HVAC system works by controlling a building's heating, ventilation, and air conditioning to maintain a comfortable and healthy indoor climate. Here's how it generally works:

1. **Heating**: The system can use different heat sources, such as boilers, radiators or heat pumps, to heat the air. The heated air is then distributed through ducts or radiators throughout the house.

2. **Ventilation**: Ventilation allows fresh air to circulate inside the building while evacuating stale air. This can be done using fans and ducts that draw in outside air and distribute it throughout the building, while exhausting stale air outside.

3. **Air conditioning**: To cool the air, the system generally uses central air conditioning units or reversible heat pumps. These devices absorb heat from the indoor air and release it outside, leaving the indoor air cooler.

4. **Control and regulation**: A thermostat allows you to control the desired temperature inside the building. The HVAC system uses sensors to measure temperature and automatically adjust heating or cooling based on user-defined preferences.

In summary, an HVAC system works by controlling and regulating heating, ventilation, and air conditioning to maintain a comfortable and healthy indoor environment.
