Limited Warranty
Limited Warranty — Kanartic Mini Split Zero Heat Pump System
Your rights at a glance
This limited warranty (the “Warranty”) is a conventional warranty offered by CBINNOV INC. (the “Company”) on Kanartic-brand products (collectively, the “Products”). It is in addition to the rights granted to you by the laws of your province or territory; it does not replace or reduce them.
Quebec consumers: since October 5, 2026, the Consumer Protection Act automatically grants, free of charge, a 6-year legal warranty of good working order on heat pumps, starting from delivery. It covers parts, labour and reasonable transportation costs. See section 9.
In the event of a conflict between the Warranty and an applicable law, the rule most favourable to the consumer applies.
1. Coverage
1.1. If, during normal use, a Product or a part of a Product fails due to a defect in materials or workmanship during the applicable Warranty Period, the Company will provide, free of charge, a new or refurbished part, at its option, to replace the defective part.
1.2. Subject to section 9 (Quebec) and applicable laws, labour to remove the defective part and install the replacement part is not included.
2. Warranty Period
2.1. The applicable Warranty Period is as follows:
| Component | Warranty period |
|---|---|
| Compressor of Kanartic Mini Split systems (including DIY models) | 10 years |
| All other parts of Kanartic Mini Split systems (including DIY models) | 5 years |
| Any other Product, unless covered by a specific warranty | 30 days |
2.2. The Warranty Period begins on the original delivery date of the Product.
2.3. The Company may ask that the defective part be returned to it, or to one of its partners, for a safety analysis. It will then provide return instructions.
2.4. These periods do not shorten the legal warranties. In Quebec, every heat pump also benefits from the 6-year legal warranty of good working order (section 9).
3. Conditions
3.1. Covered products. The Warranty applies only to equipment, controls and accessories bearing the “Kanartic” trademark and sold by the Company. Equipment not sold by the Company is not covered.
3.2. Beneficiary. Outside Quebec, the Warranty applies to the original owner (the “Owner”) only. In Quebec, it also benefits subsequent owners of the Product (section 9).
3.3. Installation location. The Warranty covers the Product installed at its original address in Canada. Damage caused by moving, uninstalling or reinstalling the Product is not covered.
3.4. Installation. The Product must be installed:
- by a contractor certified or licensed to install HVAC systems under applicable provincial or federal laws (a “licensed contractor”), in accordance with applicable codes and permits, the installation and operating instructions, and industry standards; or
- for DIY models, by the customer, following the installation instructions, in particular without bending, crushing or twisting the refrigerant lines.
Failures resulting from a non-compliant installation are not covered. A refrigerant leak at the fittings is excluded only if it results from improper installation, for example misaligned or under-tightened fittings, or bent, crushed or twisted lines. A leak caused by a manufacturing defect in a part is covered like any other part.
The licensed contractor must provide a warranty on their work, obliging them to correct defects due to improper installation.
3.5. Electrical work. Electrical work must be performed by an electrician licensed or certified under applicable laws in Canada, including for DIY models. Failures resulting from non-compliant electrical work are not covered.
3.6. Maintenance. Follow the instructions in the manual to maintain your equipment, clean the filters regularly and call a professional when needed.
4. Warranty Registration
4.1. DIY models. The Warranty is registered automatically at the time of purchase. No action is required.
4.2. Standard installation by a licensed contractor. The licensed contractor must send the installation invoice to the Company by email to contact@kanartic.ca or on the Register my warranty page. This invoice confirms that the Product was installed by a licensed contractor (clause 3.4).
4.3. Keep your purchase invoice and, where applicable, the installation invoice. In Quebec, failing to register does not deprive you of the legal warranty of good working order or of the other legal warranties (section 9).
5. Exclusions
5.1. Subject to section 9 (Quebec), the Warranty does not cover:
- damage, failures or repairs resulting from faulty installation, improper application, misuse or use not in accordance with the Company's recommendations, improper maintenance or unauthorized modification of the Product;
- an accident or negligence;
- force majeure or factors beyond the Company's control: flood, wind, fire, lightning, corrosive environment (rust, etc.) or other similar conditions;
- power surges, faulty fuses, tripped breakers, or insufficient or interrupted electrical service;
- improper sizing of the Product;
- labour or other costs for diagnosis, repair, removal, installation, shipping, maintenance or handling of defective parts, replacement parts or new units;
- parts not supplied or designated by the Company, or damage caused by their use;
- electricity or fuel costs, or increases in them for any reason, including increased use of backup heating;
- the cost of refrigerant, or of its replacement, recharging or disposal;
- normal maintenance described in the manual, including cleaning, replacement and lubrication of filters, and parts replaced as part of that maintenance.
5.2. The Warranty applies only to Products installed in Canada.
5.3. The Company may refuse a claim if the Product's serial number has been altered, obliterated or removed to the point of preventing identification of the Product.
6. Making a Claim
Contact the Kanartic technical service directly:
- Phone: 1 866 211-8441
- Email: contact@kanartic.ca
Have your invoice, the model and serial numbers, a description of the problem and, if possible, photos ready. In Quebec, you may contact the manufacturer or the merchant who sold you the Product.
7. Notice Before Legal Action
Before bringing legal action, we invite you to send a written notice (formal demand) to CBINNOV INC., 514, ch. de la Rivière Sud, Saint-Eustache (Quebec) J7R 0E2, Canada. The notice describes the defect or complaint and requests the repair, replacement or correction of the Product. The Company has 30 days to respond.
This step aims at a quick settlement; it does not limit any right or remedy granted to you by law.
8. Limitation of Liability
The clauses in this section apply only to the extent permitted by applicable law. They do not apply to Quebec consumers to the extent that the Consumer Protection Act prohibits them.
8.1. To that extent, all implied warranties and conditions, including those of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, are excluded.
8.2. Except as expressly provided in the Warranty, the Company makes no other warranty or condition on the Products. The Company disclaims all liability for the acts or omissions of third parties, including contractors who install, maintain or repair the Product.
8.3. To that extent, the Company is not liable for incidental, special, indirect or consequential damages: loss of revenue, profit or opportunity, business interruption, system failure, damage to other property, removal and reinstallation costs, loss of use, or injuries arising from the Product, whether for breach of warranty, breach of contract, in tort or otherwise. Its liability does not exceed the actual purchase price of the Product subject to the claim.
9. Special Provisions for Quebec Consumers
This section takes precedence over any other clause of the Warranty for consumers within the meaning of the Consumer Protection Act (CPA). The manufacturer and the merchant cannot exempt themselves from the legal warranties.
9.1. Legal warranty of good working order (s. 38.1 et seq. CPA). The law requires the manufacturer and the merchant to warrant the good working order of this good for 6 years from its delivery. This warranty is free and granted automatically by law.
9.2. What it covers. Parts, labour and reasonable costs of transporting or shipping the good. The Company performs the repair at its expense, or allows you to have it performed by a third party and assumes the reasonable costs.
9.3. What it does not cover. Normal maintenance service and parts replaced as part of it (for example, filters), as well as damage caused by misuse of the good.
9.4. Subsequent owners. The legal warranty follows the good: it also benefits the person who acquires it from you, for the remainder of the period.
9.5. Other legal warranties. The law also grants you other free warranties, including the one allowing you to require that the good be fit for normal use for a reasonable period (ss. 37 and 38 CPA). They apply during and after the legal warranty of good working order.
9.6. Parts and repair (s. 39 CPA). The Company makes available, for a reasonable period, replacement parts, repair services and the information needed to maintain and repair the Product. Replacement parts can be installed using commonly available tools.
9.7. Clauses that do not reduce your rights. Clauses 1.2, 3.2, 3.4, 3.5, 5.1, 5.3, 7 and 8 cannot limit the legal warranty of good working order or the other legal warranties. Failure to register the Warranty does not deprive you of any right.

10. Other Provinces and General Provisions
10.1. Other provinces and territories. Some provinces do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties or of indirect or consequential damages, or some of the other limitations above. These limitations may therefore not apply to you. The Warranty gives you specific rights, and you may have other rights depending on your province or territory.
10.2. No modification. The Warranty is limited to what is expressly described in it. No distributor, dealer or other person may extend or modify it, verbally or otherwise. Technical advice or information provided by the Company does not change the scope of the Warranty.
10.3. Territory. The Warranty is valid only in Canada. Outside Quebec, it is not assignable.
